How does the chest pouch work?
A second panel of the same cotton is sewn into the front of the shirt, forming a soft pocket across your chest. You open the curved neckline of the pouch, settle your baby in facing you, and the fabric holds them against your body. Keep their face uncovered, their chin off their chest, and one arm around them while you move.
What age and weight is it made for?
It's designed for newborns from day one up to about [XX] lb. Once they start pushing up and wanting to face out, most parents move to a structured carrier and keep wearing the shirt on its own.
Which size should I order?
Order your usual t-shirt size. The cut is unisex and slightly relaxed through the body so the pouch has room without pulling. If you're between sizes, or you'll be sharing it with a partner who's a size up, take the larger one.
Can I wear it while pregnant?
Yes — the stretch cotton and the extra front panel give you room through the bump, so plenty of parents start wearing it in the last trimester and simply keep it after the birth.
Is the pouch built in or does it come off?
It's sewn in, so there's nothing to attach, lose or re-thread. When you're not carrying, the panel lies flat against the front and reads as an ordinary t-shirt.
Doesn't it get too hot with a baby against you?
It's breathable cotton rather than padded carrier fabric, which is exactly why parents reach for it in warm weather. Dress your baby in one light layer underneath and check the back of their neck now and then, same as you would in any carrier.
Can dads wear it too?
It was cut unisex from the start — the sizing, the shoulders and the pouch placement work the same either way. A lot of couples order one each so nobody has to hand it over.
How do I wash it?
Machine wash cold with like colors and tumble dry low. No special cycle, no hand washing — spit-up comes out and the shape holds up to being washed as often as you need.
